The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority board voted 6-0 on Friday to begin renaming Nashville International Airport for Dolly Parton by modifying its naming policy. The board said no final name has been chosen, and the rebranding process is expected to take months and require federal aviation approval. Parton, the Tennessee-born country music star and philanthropist, died Aug. 25 at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer. Nashville officials from both Republican state government and Democratic city government have backed the airport renaming.
