The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Planned Parenthood and two smaller regional abortion providers can again bill Medicaid for services other than abortion after a defunding provision expired Saturday. The provision, included in President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, had paused Medicaid reimbursements to the providers for most of a year. The resumed reimbursements cover non-abortion care such as sexually transmitted infection testing and birth control. Congress did not extend the funding cutoff, restoring access to federal grants, contracts and Medicaid funds that totaled more than $800 million for Planned Parenthood in 2024.
