The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

At Lindsay Clancy's murder trial in Plymouth, Massachusetts, her former mother-in-law, Susan Clancy, testified for the defense Tuesday that Clancy was “begging for help” as her mental health worsened after giving birth. A psychologist said Clancy reported in the hospital that she heard a male voice ordering her to kill her children and die by suicide. Clancy, 36, is charged with murdering Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in January 2023. Her lawyers are pursuing an insanity defense after prosecutors rested following 72 witnesses.

The internet response to the Lindsay Clancy case has become irresponsible, conspiratorial, and grotesque. True-crime sleuthing and viral theories are distorting a child-murder case into entertainment and misinformation.
