Police said gunfire at a Detroit strip club killed three people and injured four others.
What happened
A shooting killed three people and injured four others at an after-hours strip club in Detroit on Sunday morning. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said the violence began after a fight or altercation escalated into gunfire. Bettison said police already knew the west-side location, after more than seven calls to the address this year. Officers responded around 7:21 a.m. after a ShotSpotter alert near Eaton Avenue and Prest Street. Mayor Mary Sheffield said Detroit would support affected families and crack down on illegal after-hours operations. Police said they had leads but no arrests, and they did not believe the public faced an ongoing danger.
