The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating after two Tennessee National Guard soldiers shot and killed 20-year-old Tyrin Johnson in downtown Memphis shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday. Authorities said Memphis police responding to a shots-fired call saw an armed man carrying a handgun flee, and that guardsmen on patrol shot Johnson after he pointed a firearm at them. The soldiers were patrolling as part of a federal task force created by President Donald Trump. Johnson’s grandfather, Evaniel Johnson, is demanding the release of video footage and answers from law enforcement.
