The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Roger Rogoff, the former U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington, sued the Trump administration Tuesday to void his firing, which came 54 minutes after he was sworn in. Federal judges in the district had unanimously appointed Rogoff to the Seattle-based post after President Donald Trump left the seat vacant. Rogoff argues the president’s removal was unlawful and asks the federal district court in Seattle to declare that he remains U.S. attorney. The case is the first legal challenge of its kind to such a termination.
