The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

President Donald Trump attended the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at Washington’s Waldorf Astoria on July 24, three months after an assassination attempt canceled the April gala. The original event at the Washington Hilton was halted after a gunman rushed a security checkpoint and Secret Service agents opened fire. Organizers moved the dinner to a smaller venue, tightened security and reduced attendance from about 2,600 guests. WHCA President Weijia Jiang said the association “will not be intimidated,” while Karoline Leavitt said Trump’s speech would be “unifying yet vicious.”
