The reporting
The FAA is investigating why air traffic controllers at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport allowed a passenger jet to depart as Marine One, carrying President Donald Trump, left the White House on Tuesday afternoon. The helicopter briefly came within less than a mile of the departing aircraft in Washington airspace, but the FAA said Trump was not in danger. Controllers had not paused commercial traffic at Reagan National, a step required under procedures adopted after the January 2025 fatal midair collision there. The NTSB is also reviewing the incident.
