The reporting
Sen. Marsha Blackburn won Tennessee’s Republican primary for governor on Aug. 6, defeating Rep. John Rose and state Rep. Monty Fritts after President Donald Trump declined to endorse. The sitting U.S. senator, first elected in 2018, will face Democratic nominee Jerri Green in November. In Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District, former state agriculture commissioner Charlie Hatcher defeated Trump-endorsed Rep. Andy Ogles, 53%-47%, with nearly all precincts reporting. The Invest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC, funded by green energy companies, spent $2 million opposing Ogles.
