The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

The Kennedy Center told a federal court it will not try to put President Donald Trump’s name back on its facade before Sept. 8, after its board voted 23-3 to add a new inscription. The proposed text would read, “Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump,” beneath the center’s main name. A Democratic lawmaker asked the judge to block the inscription, citing an earlier order requiring Trump’s name to be removed. Justice Department lawyers said scaffolding and a tarp covering the facade must stay for water testing and roof-overhang repairs.
