President Milei Renews Falklands Claim

What happened

Argentine President Javier Milei used his U.N. General Assembly speech to renew Argentina’s claim over the Falkland Islands, which Argentina calls the Malvinas. He urged a peaceful resolution with Britain while his government pursues protests, legal measures and sanctions proceedings against more than 60 companies and people linked to nearby offshore drilling. Milei accused the United Nations of failing to act on a resolution discouraging unilateral changes in the dispute. Argentina says British-backed oil exploration is unlawful; Britain rejects the claim and says islanders should decide their future.
