The reporting
On Aug. 12, a total solar eclipse will cross parts of Iceland, Greenland, northern Russia, Spain and a portion of Portugal, while partial phases will be visible across much of Europe, Canada and the northern United States. In the UK and Ireland, the moon is expected to cover about 90% to 96% of the sun, with viewing windows around 18:00-20:15 BST depending on location. It will be the deepest eclipse seen there since 1999. Viewers should use certified eclipse glasses or indirect projection, because looking directly at the sun can permanently damage eyesight.
