Former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White said Friday they plan to declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft, with White saying he identifies as a woman for basketball purposes. Their announcements followed Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s comments that women’s sports should exclude “biological men” and that girls need locker-room protections. Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams said Thursday she would welcome a transgender athlete on her team or an opponent “anytime.” The WNBPA said it represents 200-plus players and embraces justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.
