Anthropic said Thursday it disrupted multiple Claude accounts used for biological research that could support weapons development, including work on highly pathogenic bird flu, chikungunya, orthopoxvirus immune-response genes and novel toxins. In a 154-page threat intelligence report, the company said some cases may have been legitimate dual-use science but posed biological misuse concerns. The report also detailed Claude use in cyberattacks, surveillance, scams, weapons design and propaganda. Anthropic said China-based labs including Alibaba, Moonshot and DeepSeek used millions of Claude exchanges for unauthorized model training.
