A 15-year-old student at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde shot a teacher and then fatally shot himself on March 30, Comal County Sheriff Mark Reynolds said.
The small campus of roughly 250 students was placed on lockdown shortly after 8:30 a.m. and students were bused to a nearby middle school for reunification, officials said.
Sheriff Mark Reynolds said investigators are working to understand the relationship between the student and the teacher, how the firearm was obtained, and will interview the shooter's parents, who were at the reunification site.
No other students were injured, the injured female teacher was taken to a hospital in San Antonio, and the school’s principal Julie Wiley said classes were canceled for Tuesday with counselors available.
Authorities said they are collecting witness information as the investigation continues and Comal County law enforcement will maintain a presence on campus as needed.
