Zelensky Hails Ukraine's Growing Reach After Massive Moscow Drone Strike
Overview
Ukraine launched one of its largest drone attacks on Russia, striking the Moscow region and other areas and killing at least four people, Russian authorities said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strikes, said long-range drones flew more than 500 kilometers, and called the operations "entirely justified" as retaliation for recent Russian bombardments.
Russian air defenses reported shooting down roughly 556 to more than 1,000 Ukrainian drones across Russia, and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said over 120 drones were intercepted near Moscow, injuring 12 people.
Ukraine's SBU said strikes hit the Angstrom microelectronics plant and the Solnechnogorskaya pumping station around Moscow, and other accounts said a wave of roughly 600 drones struck 14 regions plus Crimea and the Black and Azov seas.
A suspected Ukrainian drone was found crashed in Lithuania and Latvia issued a drone alert that summoned NATO fighters, while officials said diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remained stalled.
Analysis
Center-leaning sources present a largely neutral account, attributing claims to officials (Zelenskyy, Russian foreign ministry, regional governors), juxtaposing denials, and avoiding editorialized language outside quoted statements. They provide concrete details (casualties, air-defenses, embassy response) and cite multiple perspectives, reducing evidence of selective emphasis or omitted viewpoints.
