Ratko Mladić, the former Bosnian Serb general convicted over wartime atrocities in Bosnia, died at 84 in a U.N. prison hospital in The Hague while serving a life sentence. He was sentenced in 2017 for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the 1992-95 wars in the former Yugoslavia. The genocide conviction centered on the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, in which forces under his command killed about 8,000 Muslim men and boys.
