The reporting
Aaron Forrest Farinacci, 37, is accused of starting Spokane County’s Old Trails Fire on August 1, and prosecutors said he told detectives he planned the ignition for about two weeks, monitored weather apps and built a device to start it. Prosecutors added four arson counts after saying Farinacci admitted setting 25 fires around Riverside State Park since last July, with evidence corroborating at least four. A judge doubled his bail to $2 million. Spokane-area fires have destroyed more than 900 structures, and tens of thousands of residents remained evacuated as crews braced for hotter, drier, windier conditions.
