An ICE officer fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a 52-year-old Mexican national, during an attempted immigration arrest in Houston at about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, DHS said. DHS said he rammed an ICE vehicle, ignored commands and tried to run over an agent before the agent fired. His son demanded an independent investigation, saying Salgado Araujo had no criminal convictions, had lived in the U.S. for decades and was driving workers to a construction job. The shooting marks at least the eighth death in the Trump administration’s immigration sweeps.
