Hormuz Closure Deepens

U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces began a series of strikes against Iran on Tuesday in retaliation for attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Maritime authorities said one tanker off Oman caught fire early Tuesday after being hit by an unidentified projectile less than 10 miles east of Limah, near a waterway carrying about 20% of global oil traffic. The Treasury Department revoked General License X, issued June 21 to allow Iranian oil sales under an interim deal, with revocation effective July 7, 2026.
