Three men detained after witnessing ICE fatally shoot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston say, through their lawyer, the officer fired through a passenger window and no agent was in front of the van, contradicting DHS claims that Salgado rammed an ICE vehicle and tried to run over an officer. DHS now says Salgado, 52, a Mexican national who had lived in the U.S. for decades, was not the intended target of the July 7 operation. Agents had no body cameras, and Houston Mayor John Whitmire and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum are seeking further legal or independent review.
