Chinese Robot Import Ban

The Federal Communications Commission announced Tuesday that it will ban imports of new Chinese-made advanced robots, including humanoid and quadruped models, and connected power inverters. The restrictions add the products to a national-security risk framework used to keep specified foreign communications and technology equipment out of the U.S. market. Officials said the inverter rules target equipment used in electricity infrastructure needed for AI data centers, while the robot rules address mobile machines increasingly developed by Chinese manufacturers. The action expands the Trump administration’s technology crackdown on China.
