The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday that he does not support the Democratic Socialists of America’s agenda, citing opposition to defunding police, open borders and abolishing the Senate. Jeffries also indicated he does not currently back Medicare for All, despite co-sponsoring similar legislation from 2013 to 2021, and said Democrats should focus on affordability. He said DSA-aligned lawmakers who win elections would still be part of Democrats’ “broad caucus.” Rep. Ro Khanna countered on the same program that Medicare for All is Democrats’ “most important priority.”
