The reporting
Excavation work for President Donald Trump’s planned 250-foot Great Triumphal Arch and Military Observation Deck in Washington is set to begin over the next two weeks, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said Sept. 3. The monument is planned for Memorial Circle on Columbia Island, between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery, and construction is expected to take two to three years. The project is moving ahead despite a pending lawsuit from opponents who say it would disrupt historic sight lines near the National Mall.
