The reporting
MPs in the House of Commons voted 286 to 270 against the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, ending the latest attempt to legalise assisted dying in England and Wales. The private member’s bill, brought by Labour MP Lauren Edwards, would have allowed terminally ill adults to choose to end their lives under specified conditions. The result followed a four-hour debate and reversed earlier Commons support for a similar proposal, which had previously passed by 23 votes before being delayed in the House of Lords.
