What happened
President Donald Trump said Donald Trump Jr. repaid Russian boxing chief Umar Kremlev for helping pay for post-wedding festivities in the Bahamas. ProPublica said Kremlev paid hundreds of thousands of dollars toward two nights of the wedding celebrations, including a private-island rental. Kremlev leads the International Boxing Association, which has been financed by the state-backed Gazprom energy company. Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, opened an investigation seeking records from the White House and Trump Jr. The Trumps said Kremlev was a personal friend giving an extraordinary wedding gift.
