Trump says the government will rebrand artificial intelligence as super intelligence.
What happened
President Donald Trump said the U.S. government will start calling artificial intelligence “super intelligence” in official documents during his U.N. speech. Before that, Trump asked Truth Social followers to choose replacement names after arguing that “artificial” makes the technology sound fake. The term “artificial intelligence” dates to a 1955 Dartmouth proposal and computer scientist John McCarthy, so a president cannot make the common name legally vanish by decree. Trump said the technology is “amazing” and not fake, while critics and social-media users mocked the proposal as unnecessary or stupid. Trump said documents would use the new term, and he may press other countries to adopt it.
