What happened
Utah Valley University released an independent 158-page review of security failures before Charlie Kirk’s assassination at a campus Turning Point USA event. The review says Turning Point USA insisted on an outdoor courtyard speech despite security concerns, while UVU allowed it without fully challenging that choice. Kirk was killed by a sniper from more than 400 feet away, in a case unlike a school shooting because accused killer Tyler Robinson had no university connection. Robinson has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder. Investigators said UVU lacked a formal security assessment, a written event plan, camera monitoring, and trained staffing. The report recommends stronger rules for high-risk events and adding a police sergeant for campus events.
