Trump DOJ Backs X’s EU Challenge
The Justice Department moved to back X’s challenge to a $137M EU tech fine.
What happened
The U.S. Justice Department asked the EU’s General Court to let the Trump administration join Elon Musk’s appeal. X is seeking to annul the European Union’s €120 million fine against the platform. The fine was the European Commission’s first penalty under the Digital Services Act, after a two-year probe of X’s compliance. The law has become a flashpoint between Brussels and U.S. tech companies. X and the U.S. government say the Commission overstepped its authority, while Brussels says it proved a DSA breach. The Commission cited misleading blue checkmarks, a weak ad database and poor researcher access. The Luxembourg court must still accept the filing.
