What happened

President Trump announced that South Korea will invest about $200 billion in U.S. energy and infrastructure projects, including the Alaska LNG pipeline. Trump said the pipeline would use $54 billion from South Korean investment pledged under a 2025 trade deal that lowered U.S. tariffs on South Korean goods. The project has stalled for years over cost, financing, taxes and profitability, and developer Glenfarne has not made a final investment decision. Trump praised Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan, who faces Democrat Mary Peltola in a competitive reelection race. The 807-mile pipeline would move North Slope gas to a southern export terminal. Officials said construction could take about three years if financing and approvals come through, while South Korean critics want more scrutiny.

From the right

The announcement was framed as Trump translating long-promised energy ambitions into investment, exports, and infrastructure gains. The Daily Wire cast Trump as finally moving a long-promised Alaska LNG pipeline beyond decades of political talk, and also tied the deal to energy dominance through LNG exports and new power-generation capacity. Epoch Times presented the South Korean investment package as a Trump-secured win for U.S. energy and infrastructure.
