The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most sources agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Millions in Spain gathered Wednesday for the country’s first total solar eclipse in more than a century, with the path of totality crossing northern Spain near sunset. The Moon’s shadow also crossed parts of Greenland, Iceland and Portugal, while much of Europe, including the U.K. and France, saw a partial eclipse. Spanish authorities warned rural eclipse crowds to avoid fire risks as extreme heat and wildfires affected parts of the country. Another total solar eclipse is set for Aug. 2, 2027, with totality up to six minutes and 23 seconds.
