The reporting
Dueling protests formed outside the United Center before Saturday’s Fever-Sky game: “Support Sophie” demonstrators wore XX/XY chromosome shirts, while counterprotesters carried rainbow and transgender flags and “Protect Trans Kids” shirts. Cunningham became a conservative-media focus after her viral flagrant foul last season on Sky guard Jacy Sheldon, who had poked Fever guard Caitlin Clark in the eye. Former NBA player and Republican Senate candidate Royce White said he identifies as transgender and plans to declare for the 2027 WNBA draft.
Analysis & opinion
Anti-trans eligibilityMostly Right
The WNBA’s transgender-inclusion stance is a real and legitimate controversy because it denies biological reality in women’s sports. Allowing biological males to participate in the women’s league is portrayed as unfair, unsafe, and so absurd that it damages the credibility of the broader transgender-rights movement.
