The reporting
The U.S. military said an MH-60 helicopter fired two Hellfire missiles Tuesday into the engine room of the Panama-flagged container ship Vela Nova in the Gulf of Oman to disable its steering after it ignored blockade warnings near Iranian ports. Talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz remained stalled as Iran demanded unfrozen assets and an end to hostilities, while Donald Trump rejected reparations and said the U.S. controlled the strait. Yemeni authorities said Iran-backed Houthis killed six people in a double-tap strike on a commercial vessel in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Analysis & opinion
