The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Jurors in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial told Judge William Sullivan on Tuesday, after about 23 hours of deliberations over four days, that they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Sullivan instructed the panel of nine women and three men to keep deliberating, then excused them until 9 a.m. Wednesday. Clancy, 36, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the 2023 strangulation deaths of her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. Her defense does not dispute she killed them but argues she was not criminally responsible.

No SympathyLeans Right

Lindsay Clancy deserves condemnation and legal accountability for killing her children, not public sympathy or heroic treatment. Sympathy for her postpartum-psychosis defense is misguided and has distorted reactions to the case, including views of the evidence and jury outcome.
