Kennedy Center Adds Trump’s Name

The Kennedy Center board voted Thursday to add an exterior inscription reading “Restored and renovated by President Donald J. Trump” beneath the building’s existing name, two months after a federal judge ordered Trump’s name removed. The move tests U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper’s May ruling that Congress authorized only John F. Kennedy’s name for the institution. The board also advanced naming the grounds “President Donald J. Trump Plaza” and inscribing “Endowed by the Trump Kennedy Center Fund.” It separately voted again to close most of the complex for two years of renovations, a $250 million project that still needs court approval.
