The reporting
Former University of Cambridge professor Jason Arday, 41, was found unresponsive at an address in Battersea, south London, on Friday and pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called. Police said the death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious, and his next of kin have been informed. Arday resigned from Cambridge last week after weeks of plagiarism allegations and scrutiny of his academic record and biography. He became Cambridge’s youngest Black professor in 2023, when he was appointed professor of sociology of education.
Analysis & opinion
Fraudulent riseLeans Right
Jason Arday’s celebrated path to a Cambridge professorship was built on falsehoods rather than the inspirational story the public was told. Allegations of fabricated biography, dishonesty, and plagiarism make his rise look illegitimate and undeserved.
